Isobel Akenhead is moving from Kobo to Bookouture to take up the role of associate publisher. Akenhead will report to publishing director Jenny Geras.
Akenhead has previously worked at Hodder from 2005-2012, rising from editorial assistant to senior editor for women’s fiction and working with authors including Lucy Dillon, Melissa Hill and Alexandra Potter. From there, she took on a role as digital promotions manager for the whole Hachette group before moving to e-book retailer Kobo as merchandiser for UK and Ireland.
Geras said: "Isobel’s experience brilliantly combines commercial fiction publishing, digital sales and retail, making her a great match for Bookouture. I can’t wait for her to join us and I know that she will do a fantastic job bringing new talent to the list."
Akenhead said: "For my entire publishing career, through a decade as an editor, two years in digital sales and three great years as an ebook retailer with Kobo, I have sought the same things - a passion for storytelling, smart publishing, and great books. As a result, it is such a joy to be joining the Bookouture team - one of the most innovative and exciting in the business. I look forward to bringing my editorial, digital and commercial skills together and to acquiring and publishing some brilliant books."
Akenhead will join Bookouture on 29th August. Last month, it was announced that Kathryn Taussig, senior commissioning editor at Quercus, will also be moving to Bookouture in August to join the same editorial team.
