Bonnier Zaffre has appointed Katherine Armstrong as senior editor on the Zaffre crime list.
Armstrong - who is currently covering maternity leave at Sphere Fiction - will join Bonnier Zaffre on 23rd June, reporting to executive director Kate Parkin.
Armstrong started her publishing career at Faber & Faber when she became commissioning editor for Faber¹s crime list in 2011. Her first acquisition, Chris Ewan's Safe House, sold over half a million copies in all editions and was shortlisted for the Theakston's Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year award. Other authors on Armstrong's list included Sarah Ward, Julia Heaberlin and the actor John Gordon Sinclair.
In 2015, she moved to Little, Brown as senior editor as maternity cover for Sphere Fiction, where she has worked with authors including Alex Gray, Christobel Kent and debuts Rebecca Griffiths and Shannon Kirk. And, in 2016, she launched the First Monday series of crime fiction events with David Headley and Harry Illingworth of Goldsboro Books and author William Ryan.
Parkin said: "I am delighted to welcome Katherine to the Bonnier Zaffre team. Her passion for crime and thriller fiction and her reputation within the crime community make her a key publisher in the field. Crime and thriller fiction is one of the most important areas on our growing list and Katherine's appointment completes the first phase of our development. We’re very excited to have her on board."
