Simon & Schuster has appointed Lara Hancock as editorial director for children's picture books and novelty, to join in early May.
Hancock moves from Egmont UK, where she is currently publishing director for picturebooks and gift.
Lara said of her move: "Illustration is an absolute passion of mine, so I’m very much looking forward to working on S&S’ fabulous list and everyone involved with it."
Ingrid Selberg, S&S Children's publishing director said: "We’re so thrilled to have Lara joining S&S, and know that she will continue to develop our existing, award-winning brands and bring new talent to the list."
Hancock began her career as a bookseller, before joining OUP's sales team and then moving into editorial. She joined Egmont in 2004 and has worked on titles including Sir Charlie Stinky Socks and on classic publishing including Winnie the Pooh, Tintin, Rupert the Bear and Miffy.
