Little, Brown has acquired two new books by "rising star" thriller author Gilly Macmillan.
Ahead of the publication of books three and four by Macmillan, her second title The Perfect Girl wil be published this summer, described by imprint Piatkus Fiction as "extraordinary literary thriller" and its "lead paperback title of the year".
Macmillan’s debut Burnt Paper Sky, which was published in February last year, was called "one of the brightest debuts this year" by the Daily Mail.
Emma Beswetherick, associate publisher of Piatkus Fiction, acquired world English language rights to the books from Nelle Andrew at PFD.
Beswetherick said: "Macmillan writes the very best literary suspense novels I have read in years. She combines winning concepts with exquisite narration and characters that leap from every page."
The Perfect Girl is about a teenager beginning her life again after serving time in detention. It will be published at the same time by HarperCollins US, who also had "huge success" with Macmillan’s debut.
Little, Brown UK and HarperCollins US will be working together on a joined-up global campaign, with publisher Amanda Bergeron at HarperCollins US recently also acquiring US rights in The Perfect Girl plus one more title by Macmillan in a deal with Little, Brown UK.
