Lisa Baker, currently rights director at Faber and Faber, will be joining Aitken Alexander Associates as director of translation rights in August 2016.
She will represent her own list of clients, her first being Max Porter, author of Grief Is the Thing with Feathers (Faber & Faber).
Baker has been rights director for Faber and Faber for the past nine years, where her recent international campaigns included Anatomy of a Soldier by Harry Parker, Grief is the Thing with Feathers by Max Porter, Apple Tree Yard by Louise Doughty and the QI series. She worked closely with the estates of T.S. Eliot, Seamus Heaney, Ted Hughes, and Sylvia Plath and negotiated key serial deals across the press.
Baker has been nominated for rights professional of the year at this year's British Book Industry Awards.
Faber is to promote current acting rights director Lizzie Bishop to the role of rights director. Bishop has worked closely with the Plath, Eliot, Hughes, Golding, Heaney and Larkin Estates and has represented a range of children's and adult authors.
