Start-up Lost My Name is expanding into the French, German, Spanish and Portuguese markets after receiving £500,000 in funding.
The company, which makes personalised children’s books, received the funding in a seed round led by Forward Partners earlier this month.
Co-founder Asi Sharabi said company is using the funding to extend its personalised book service into other languages. The book, which is available as The Little Boy Who Lost His Name or The Little Girl Who Lost Her Name, will be available in French or Germany later this year, he said. Spanish and Portuguese versions will follow at a later date.
Lost My Name allows customers to create a book by entering the name and sex of a child online. A set of special algorithms then puts together a personalised picture book (there is a different story for every name) with illustrations from Pedro Serapicus. The customer can then buy a print version of the book to give to a child.
Sharabi set up the company last year with Tal Oron and David Cadji-Newby. The firm now has 12 employees and is looking at investing in technology for more personalised stories.
“We want to merge our stories with new technologies so any new product will be more technologically advanced,” he said.
