Orion Publishing Group has appointed Lynsey Sutherland, currently senior marketing manager at Bloomsbury, in the newly created role of head of marketing for fiction.
Sutherland will work across all of Orion’s imprints (Orion Fiction, W&N, Trapeze and Gollancz), with responsibility for driving its fiction publishing forward using "creative and strategic" marketing. She will start on 1st February and report to group marketing director Sarah Benton.
Sutherland joins the company from Bloomsbury where she worked across the adult trade fiction list for three years. There she created campaigns for authors including William Boyd, Ann Patchett, Elizabeth Gilbert, Celia Imrie and Kate Tempest. Previously, she was at Headline where she worked on campaigns for Martina Cole, Simon Scarrow and Jill Mansell.
Benton said: "Lynsey is a creative and instinctive marketer, with a great track record of delivering innovative and measurable campaigns for her authors. She is joining Orion at such an exciting time and I’m so thrilled to have her on board to continue to drive forward our Fiction publishing."
Katie Espiner, m.d. of Orion, said: "We are always looking at how we can improve our publishing for our authors and readers. We have ambitious growth plans for our fiction publishing, and it's vital that we're properly supported across the business to deliver real results. We want the best in the business at Orion, and I know Lynsey will bring real drive and energy to this important role."
Sutherland said that having loved her time at Bloomsbury, she was "incredibly excited to be joining Orion at such an exciting time for their Fiction publishing."
