Former Penguin Random House editor Marina Kemp is launching a series of one-on-one creative writing courses modelled on the traditional writer-editor relationship.
The Ink Academy course consists of nine hour-long face-to-face sessions spread over six months. Held at the Library Members’ Club in London, the sessions are “exclusively focused on individual students and their work”, with “direct, personalised” feedback offered from a personal editor-tutor.
The academy also runs masterclasses with published writers and industry experts, in which small groups are offered the chance to focus on a specific aspect of the craft of writing.
Forthcoming masterclasses include one held with author and publisher Simon Winder on Everything you Need to Know about Getting Published, and authors Joe Dunthorne, Ned Beauman, Lu Spinney and Edmund Gordon will address Narrative Voice, Plot, Memoir and Characterisation respectively.
The courses cost £1,800 and masterclasses are priced at £80.
