Biteback Publishing has confirmed an upcoming biography of Michael Gove has been cancelled.
The biography of the Conservative politician, who campaigned for the UK to leave the European Union ahead of the referendum, was due for release in August. However, the book will no longer be published, although Biteback told The Bookseller: “We tend not to comment on scheduling or editorial decisions”.
The cancellation was revealed by the Standard yesterday, which said the book was to be written by journalist Alastair Sloan and promised to delve into his “lesser-known views on national security” and reveal “how British neo-conservatives, Cold War veterans, former counter-terrorism officials and prominent members of the British intelligentsia have been wielding their own shadow war on terror.”
Gove is currently MP for Surrey Heath and was one of the leading campaigners, along with Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage, for the Vote Leave Campaign. He has not yet revealed his future plans now the UK has voted to leave the EU.
