The Midnight Gang will be the title of the next David Walliams children’s book, due for release next month.
“It is by far my most ambitious book, dealing with some serious themes in what I hope is an entertaining and amusing way,” said Walliams. “It tells the story of five children trapped in a hospital ward, who are all longing for adventure.”
HarperCollins Children’s Books will publish the novel in hardback, priced at £12.99, on 3rd November.
Executive publisher Ann-Janine Murtagh said: “I’m especially proud to be publishing David’s new book this year. It’s such a beautiful, brave and big-hearted story, full of warmth and humour. David’s ability to depict the hopes, deep-felt fears and dreams of his young characters show what a genius he has for storytelling. Gently poignant, exquisitely funny, tender and touching, this is an utterly original and unforgettable adventure.”
Walliams' last book, a picture title illustrated by Tony Ross called www.thebookseller.com/news/walliams-new-picturebook-details-revealed-380931">There’s a Snake in my School, was released earlier this month.
