HarperCollins Children’s Books has acquired a new ‘whodunit’ series by debut author Justine Windsor.
The three-book Goodly and Grave series is about Lucy Goodly, a "boot girl" in the household of Lord Grave. When children in the country start to go missing, Lucy suspects that her employer may have something to do with the disappearances.
The first book, Goodly and Grave: In a Bad Case of Kidnap, will be published in paperback in March 2017. The second and third titles will follow in July 2017 and June 2018 respectively, with simultaneous release in e-book and audio book.
Harriet Wilson, editorial director at HarperCollins Children’s Books, acquired world rights from Kate Shaw at The Viney Agency.
“With vivid characters and a magical, page-turning plot this is storytelling at its very best,” said Wilson. “The reader is gripped from the opening scene and transported to the eerie and eccentric world of Grave Hall where something is most certainly amiss.”
