Independent publisher Nosy Crow has published a picture book based on the John Lewis Christmas advertisement for the third time.
Monty’s Christmas is a rhyming hardback picture book that tells the story of the advert, in which a young boy finds his a soulmate for his penguin. The advert launched this morning on John Lewis’ YouTube channel and has already had nearly half a million views.
The book was written by Nosy Crow’s m.d. Kate Wilson and the head of picture books Louise Bolongaro, under the pseudonym Lucy Feather, and was designed by the publisher’s head of design Stephanie Amster. Nosy Crow also had access to the art and character images, created by Catalina Echeverri.
The book is on sale today (6th November) from John Lewis priced at £8.99. The retailer will donate £1.20 from each sale to children’s charity Barnardo's.
Last year, Nosy Crow published a picture book of The Bear Who Had Never Seen Christmas, and in 2012 The Snowman’s Journey.
John Lewis is selling a range of Penguin-inspired gifts to accompany the advert, including mugs, pyjamas, bags and plush toys.
