Nourish Books is to publish a debut title by vegan blogger and event organiser Sean O’Callaghan, aka Fat Gay Vegan.
The book, titled Fat Gay Vegan: Eat, Drink and Live Like You Give a Sh!t, will explore veganism: "one the 21st century’s biggest lifestyle trends", said the publisher. O'Callaghan takes readers through his reasons for being vegan, how they too can become vegan, getting through day-to-life and interactions as a vegan, the issues within the vegan community, the many things veganism is conflated with, and what he sees as the future of veganism.
The publisher said: "Fat Gay Vegan untangles the many myths around veganism, offering clear and non-judgemental guidance on what it really means and how and why you can do it, for anyone who wants to know. This is a compassionate, no-nonsense guide to veganism from one of the community’s most recognised celebrities."
Kate Fox, commissioning editor at Nourish, said: "We are very excited to be publishing Fat Gay Vegan. Sean's honesty, energy and humour, which he shows through his many brilliant events and on his blog, make him a truly distinctive voice. At a time when veganism is being co-opted by fad diet plans and food trends, there's no-one better placed to explain what being vegan really means."
O'Callaghan has been the face of the award-winning Fat Gay Vegan blog since 2010, which has more than 500 000 visitors a year, and 21k Twitter followers. He promotes vegan food pop-ups, cafés, restaurants and ventures across the UK, including the Vegan Beer Festivals in London, Sheffield, Manchester, and Glasgow. He also runs a Vegan Christmas Market and a weekly Vegan Market in London.
Fat Gay Vegan will be published on 4th January in paperback, priced at £8.99. The publisher holds world rights.
