Teenage activist Malala Yousafzai will do her first UK press interview for the launch of memoir I Am Malala (Weidenfeld & Nicolson, 8th October).
The interview, in the Guardian, will follow a serialisation in the Sunday Times on 5th October, while a Panorama film about Malala will air on BBC One on Monday 7th October. BBC News will also cover the Panorama film, while Malala will be interviewed by Andrew Marr for his show on 13th October. BBC Radio 4 "Woman's Hour" will also broadcast an interview.
Malala Yousafzai was shot by the Taliban in October 2012 as a result of her public stance on women's education. She made a full recovery and has since appeared around the world promoting the right of all children to education. She has spoken at the United Nations, opened the new Library of Birmingham, and has become the youngest-ever nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize. The book, co-written with Christina Lamb, will tell Malala's story.
A launch event is being held in Edinburgh, with former prime minister Gordon Brown hosting, while a public event is being staged at the Southbank Centre on 20th October.
