Crime writer Peter James has launched his own "crime-hub" YouTube channel, Peter James TV, promising to feature exclusive interviews with household names in crime including RL Stine, Martina Cole and Paula Hawkins, as well as behind the scenes research footage for his bestselling Roy Grace series.
The channel (PJTV) is free to subscribe and officially launches this autumn to coincide with publications in both the UK and US. Love You Dead (Pan Macmillan) published in May in hardback and publishes in paperback on 20th October.
Peter James TV introduces "Author Studio – Meet The Masters" where James interviews big-name authors such as Lee Child, Jeffrey Deaver and Mark Billingham to find out their top writing tips, rituals and the question they most hate being asked (and the answer).
The channel additionally offers regular content including book reviews, interviews with police, behind the scenes stage play footage, James' research footage, fan Q&As, writing tips and competitions. More unusual videos will include the shearing of James' five alpacas in Brighton.
James said: "Here I'm going to be sharing my life with you. Everything about my passion for my home city of Brighton, my interests beyond writing, how I write and, most importantly, how I do research for my books."
The introductory video to his channel (below) is dramtically shot with James walking away from an explosion to promote Love You Dead. It was filmed on Devil's Dyke in Sussex with the assistance of BrightFire Pyrotechnics.
James' Roy Grace novels have sold over 18m copies, according to Pan Macmillan, and translated into 37 languages.
