Sarah Odedina, editor-at-large at Pushkin Children's has acquired the next novel by Andy Mulligan.
Dog is a 9-12 novel about the relationship between a boy called Tom and his dog Spider.
Odedina, who acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from literary agent Jane Turnball, said: “The relationship between Tom and his dog Spider is so lovely and all the more special because of the brilliant way that Andy tells us the story from both characters' point of view. This is a truly original book that will win readers over with its wonderful wit, clever structure, fast paced adventure but most of all its tender exploration of the love that exists between friends and family. We are delighted to welcome Andy to the Pushkin.”
Pushkin will publish in hardback in autumn 2017 and paperback the following summer.
Turnball has also sold German rights to Rowhold and film rights are represented by Jenne Casarotto.
Mulligan is the author of several novels for children, including Liquidator (David Fickling Books) and Trash (Random House Children’s), which was adapted into a film directed by Stephen Daldry.
