Quercus has signed new deal with J P Delaney, author of psychological thriller The Girl Before.
Publisher-at-large, Stef Bierwerth, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to Delaney’s The Perfect Wife, another psychological thriller which will explore the relationship between love and obsession.
Bierwerth acquired rights via Denise Cronin at Ballantine Bantam Dell USA. The story follows a woman who struggles to uncover the incendiary secrets which shape her marriage. It is tentatively scheduled for summer 2018.
Delaney is already penning the screenplay adaptation of The Perfect Wife for Imagine, Ron Howard and Bran Grazer’s production company, and Universal Pictures has optioned film rights to The Girl Before.
Following on from the success of The Girl Before, Bierwerth said she was excited to "carry on building the JP Delaney brand".
The Girl Before has sold 20,900 copies in hardback, according to Quercus. It has also made appearances in the weekly e-book top 20 and the audio download chart.
