Rachel Mills, formerly head of Peters, Fraser + Dunlop's international rights department, will be joining Furniss Lawton in the newly created role of agent and international rights director in late August.
Mills revealed she was leaving PFD after five and a half years in May. In her new role she will continue to build her own list of authors and Furniss Lawton will now deal direct in territories Germany, France, Italy, Holland and North America. Mills will oversee the international publishing strategy for all Furniss Lawton authors, alongside rights manager Liane-Louise Smith, who will continue to handle day to day rights submissions.
Mills will be the sixth member of the Furniss Lawton team that, part of the James Grant Group, was founded in 2012 and is run by Eugenie Furniss and Rowan Lawton. Mills joins Smith, Rory Scarfe and team assistant Isha Karki.
Furniss Lawton's clients span brand fiction and debut writers, non-fiction and children’s, including SK Tremayne, Lindsey Kelk, Tracy Rees, Alexandra Shulman, Kevin Brooks, Julian Clary, the Hairy Bikers, Clare Balding, Fearne Cotton, Holly Willoughby & Davina McCall.
