Long-standing editorial director and founding shareholder of Head of Zeus, Rosie de Courcy will be leaving the company on 19th July 2024.
De Courcy has held a number of roles across publishing, including at Orion for a decade, and Random House before that. She joined her ex-husband Anthony Cheetham at Head of Zeus when it launched in 2012. Most recently she has edited James Naughtie’s Will Flemyng spy thrillers, and historical fiction from Diney Costeloe, Sinéad Crowley, Imogen Edwards-Jones, Sally Gardner, Daisy Goodwin, Katrina Kendrick, Katy Moran and Annabelle Thorpe.
De Courcy said: "After 51 years in publishing and 12 years at Head of Zeus, it seems a good time to adjust the balance of my working life. Helping authors with their stories and characters has always been my passion and I hope to enjoy many more years of it. Like Judi Dench, I detest the word retirement."
Nicolas Cheetham, managing director of Head of Zeus, said: "No one understands the art of storytelling better than Rosie. Her eye for a good story and her flair with the editorial pen has enriched our publishing across all our imprints. She has been part of HoZ since the get go, and we’ll miss her wise counsel and wild stories. We want to thank her for her incredible contribution and wish her well in the future."
HoZ was bought by Bloomsbury in 2021.
