Twenty-year-old blogger Hossack lands cookbook deal

Mitchell Beazley, part of the Octopus Publishing Group, has acquired The Savvy Cook: easy food on a budget from 20-year-old blogger and Instagram star Izy Hossack. 

Alison Starling, publisher at Octopus, acquired World rights from Martine Carter at Sauce Management. 

The Savvy Cook will be published on 29th June 2017 at £14.99 in hardback. It comprises more than 120 "nourishing, no-fuss” recipes, designed for anyone cooking for themselves for the first time or for people who want to extend the weekly budget without sacrificing flavour. It features menu plans, as well as suggestions how to cut down on meat and how to give last night’s leftovers a make-over. Recipes will be accompanied by Hossack’s own photography.

Hossack is known for her blog, topwithcinnamon.com, and has 216,000 followers on Instagram. She combines her career in food with studying for a degree in Food Science & Nutrition at Leeds University.

Starling said: "I first became aware of Izy when she published her debut cookbook at the age of 18 and The Savvy Cook was a book I had to publish... At 20 she is a huge talent not just for now but for the future."

Hossack added "This book has been inspired by my time at university, cooking for myself with a budget and the environment in mind. It combines my love of creating interesting, vegetable-centric recipes to make with helpful tips to cut down on food waste. I’m always on a quest for maximum flavour with minimum effort so I hope the recipes will inspire novice cooks to try something new."
