Seven Dials, Orion's new non-fiction imprint, has snapped up Roots, the first cookbook by Michelin star chef Tommy Banks.
Commissioning editor Olivia Morris signed world rights from Annecka Griffiths of Tender Management.
Banks is head chef at the family-run restaurant The Black Swan in Oldstead, Yorkshire. He became the youngest chef in Britain to be awarded a Michelin star at the age of 24. Last year he featured on "Great British Menu" and he returns to screens for the 2017 series next week.
In Roots, Banks will showcase 100 recipes, as well as stories and ideas about growing, foraging and preserving, accompanied by photography of North Yorkshire’s landscapes. Each recipe featured is inspired by a root ingredient which, according to Seven Dials, will appeal to to home cooks, professional chefs and keen gardeners alike. Banks called the project was "a labour of love".
Seven Dials will publish as a £25 hardback in May 2018.
