Oxford University Press will release a “gloriously slimy” series for readers aged five to seven called the Goozillas.
Produced by its in-house development team Creative Kitchen, the books centre around a boy who is transported into his favourite video game, World of Slime, and befriends the Goozillas to help them defend their world from the “cute yet evil” Sicklies.
The first six titles will be written by nom de plume Dexter Green, with the gaming-inspired artwork created by Jake Dash.
The first two titles—Trapped in the Bog of Beasts and Escape from the Monstrous Maze—launch in the UK in September.
OUP, selling world rights at the fair, called the series a “perfect bridge between picture books and first chapter books”.
