App developer StoryToys has signed a three-year deal to develop a series of apps based on Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar, as part of the brand’s 45th anniversary promotions.
The Joester Loria Group, global licensing agent for The World of Eric Carle estate, brokered the deal.
The first app, entitled The Very Hungry Caterpillar & Friends, will launch on 20th March, the official Very Hungry Caterpillar Day.
“We consider this partnership with The World of Eric Carle as the perfect fit for both parties” said Barry O’Neill, c.e.o. of StoryToys, adding: “Our aim is to build beautiful apps that will enable children to interact with their favorite Eric Carle characters in totally new ways.”
StoryToys has not announced the price of the app.
Other Caterpillar… anniversary promotions this year will include live theatre shows in the US and Australia, and a ‘giant wriggle’ walks in the UK, coordinated for nurseries and children centres by Action for Children.
In the UK, The Very Hungry Caterpillar is published by Puffin.
