Transworld is inviting bookshops to host their own "Jilly Cooper Night" on Thursday 8th September to celebrate the publication of her latest racy novel Mount! (Bantam Press).
Cooper's new addition to the Rutshire Chronicles is set in the "glamorous and fiercely competitive" world of flat racing and takes readers back to "iconic" character Rupert Campbell-Black as he pursues his ambition to become "Champion Trainer of the year".
Transworld is encouraging booksellers to invite the public into their shops on the evening of publication for "an evening of quizzes, games and lively book club discussion to welcome the dashing Rupert Campbell-Black back onto our bookshelves", and will be providing materials for participating shops to do so.
The "Jilly Cooper Night pack" for bookshops includes games, quiz questions, press releases and downloadable decorations to help the evening "go with a gallop". Limited edition signed hardback proofs will also be provided for use as prizes on the night.
Booksellers are encouraged to share photos and stories from their Jilly Cooper book club using the hashtag #JillyCooperNight and #Mount.
Booksellers can get involved by contacting Rosie Margesson (rmargesson@penguinrandomhouse.co.uk; 020 8231 6734).
Last year Cooper’s book Riders drew public interest after the cover was changed to what author Victoria Hislop called an “unsexy” one in what Germaine Greer termed “a sort of correctness”.
