The adaptation of Zadie Smith's NW (Hamish Hamilton) has been nominated for two BAFTAs.
The BBC2 and Mammoth Screen production, which aired in November last year, received two nominations in the 2017 BAFTA British Academy Television Awards: a Leading Actress nomination for Nikki Amuka-Bird and a nomination for best Single Drama.
Amuka-Bird earned the nomination for her portrayal of NW's central character Natalie. Last year, the actress said Smith “writes vivid, intellectually and emotionally complex women that you can sink your teeth into".
Meanwhile Mammoth has also been nominated for the Agatha Christie adaptation "The Witness for the Prosecution", a collaboration with Agatha Christie Productions Limited and BBC1, in the Mini-Series category.
"NW" executive producer Damien Timmer, managing director at Mammoth Screen, commented: “As book lovers, we enjoy nothing more than bringing brilliant writing by some of the UK’s finest writers – from Zadie Smith to Agatha Christie and Ford Madox Ford – to life on screen.” Mammoth is currently working on an adaption of China Miéville's novel The City & The City, due to air on BBC2 later this year, and Malorie Blackman’s Noughts & Crosses for BBC1.
Other literary adaptations to receive nominations for this year’s awards include the BBC’s "War & Peace" and "Alan Bennett’s Diaries" and ITV series "The Durrells".
The winners will be announced on 14th May.
