Hodder & Stoughton has acquired two new YA/adult crossover novels from Lauren Oliver.
Associate publisher Kate Howard acquired British Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) to the books by Olivier, best-selling author of the Delirium trilogy and Before I Fall, in a deal struck with Caspian Dennis on behalf of Jess Regel at Foundry Literary and Media.
Replica is the first of the two books promising a "rip-roaring, emotionally intense storyline" exploring issues of identity and "what makes us human". It tells the story of Lyra, a human clone known by the number 24 who was born and raised in a clandestine research facility. When she escapes, she meets a stranger on a quest of her own, Gemma, at which point "earth-shattering secrets are revealed".
Hodder & Stoughton will publish Replica in hardback in October 2016.
