Former literary agent Jo Unwin is returning to her old career after a six month stint at Transworld's Doubleday.
The Jo Unwin Literary Agency will see Unwin working in association with Rogers, Coleridge and White. The agency will be open for business from Monday (7th October), although Unwin will not be at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
Unwin, who made her name establishing debut authors at agency Conville and Walsh, said she had returned to agenting "because quite simply it is my true love!" She added that her new venture would be both a launchpad for first-time authors and a new opportunity for established talent. "I already have authors in development and am delighted to be welcoming back old clients too. RCW are the perfect partners – lovely people with the most envied list in London – I can’t wait,” she said.
JULA will represent authors of literary and reading group fiction, children’s and YA fiction, as well as memoir, comedy and narrative non-fiction. Jo will be based at the RCW offices and will sell direct in the UK and US with RCW handling her foreign rights.
Peter Straus, m.d. of Rogers, Coleridge and White said: "We have been very impressed with how quickly and successfully Jo made an impact – she has great ability to spot talent and the energy and passion to develop it. We're very excited to be working with her and look forward to a long association."
Unwin left Conville & Walsh earlier this year to take up a post as deputy publishing director for Doubleday.
