Usborne will launch a South Korean imprint in partnership with Seoul-based publisher BIR next year.
Usborne Korea will launch in autumn with around 40 titles and is Usborne’s first Asian imprint.
“I have long wanted to expand our very successful foreign imprint policy into Asia, where we have been selling a steadily increasing number of rights and co-editions over the years,” said m.d. Peter Usborne. “This venture is not without risk, but I am very excited about it. To celebrate, I am attempting to learn Korean.”
The imprint will be managed by Nicola Usborne (Peter Usborne’s daughter), Usborne foreign rights director Paula Ziedna, Usborne foreign rights controller Jennifer Ahn and BIR c.e.o. Sanghee Park.
Usborne Korea is the company's seventh foreign language imprint. Other Usborne imprints publish in the French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese and German languages.
