W H Smith is selling seven exclusive short stories from writers including Jeffrey Archer, James Patterson and Jodi Picoult to celebrate its 225th anniversary.
Each of the titles will be sold in W H Smith High Street stores nationwide for £2.99, with £1 from every sale donated to three charities that W H Smith staff have chosen to support throughout its anniversary year: Cancer Research UK; mental health charity, Mind; and The National Literacy Trust.
The titles are "The Senior Vice President" by Jeffrey Archer, "The End" by James Patterson, "Sunshine With a Chance of Snow" by Carole Matthews, "The Treehouse Fun Book" by Jill Griffiths, Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton, "A Wartime Secret" by Annie Murray, "Shine" by Jodi Picoult and "The Grown Up" by Gillian Flynn.
Sandra Bradley, W H Smith trading controller, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer our customers this exclusive range of short stories in celebration of our 225th anniversary. We hope that customers really enjoy reading these specially chosen titles and join us in thanking the authors for their support.”
WH Smith has previously announced other anniversary activity including the launch of its classic ‘yellowback’ book collection similar to the ones sold in the mid-1800s by the retailer, with sales of these also going to charity, and surveying the public to reveal Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier to be the nation's favourite book of the past 225 years.
