Zed Books has launched a new website promoting short form content, to respond to the increase in people reading on their mobile phones.
According to Vidisha Biswas, sales director at Zed Books, "the way people are reading is changing", and it is important to encourage users to read short form pieces on their mobile devices through a responsive website. Short form content, along with encouraging people to buy books, is a "central part of Zed’s model,” Biswas said.
The website's design means that the short form digital content "seemlessly" links with specialist academic content and general interest books. The digital platform is central to Zed’s long term strategy of providing free content in addition to publishing approximately 70 new titles a year.
To celebrate the launch, Zed is holding a week long sale of up to 50% across all titles.
The e-commerce element of the site is built on metadata fed from Bibliocloud via a RESTful API and fulfilled by NBN International globally in all formats.
Emma Barnes, Bibliocloud c.e.o., said: “The ambition and boldness of Zed’s website is a wonderful success, and as close partners we are very proud to be associated with it and with Zed’s wider mission and important work.”
