The YouTube star, whose real name is Zoe Sugg, revealed she was exclusively partnering with WH Smith to launch the Young Adult Book Club in March, but the eight titles she has selected are now in WH Smith stores across the UK.
She selected Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and Beautiful Broken Things by Sara Barnard (both Macmillan Children’s Books), All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven and Billy and Me by Giovanna Fletcher (both Penguin), Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon (Corgi Childrens), The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson (Walker Books), Potion Diaries by Amy Alward (Simon & Schuster) and We Were Liars by E Lockhart (Hot Key Books).
WH Smith is offering the books on a buy one get one half price offer and each of the eight titles will be featured fornightly on “unique displays” in every WH Smith high street store.
Each one also features special edition book jackets with ‘Zoella Book Club’ branding on them.
Sugg will review each of the books in a video available to view on the WH Smith blog and she will also conduct interviews with each author.
Introducing the titles on her vlog, Sugg said: “Over the last couple of months I have been reading non-stop. Basically been eating, sleeping, breathing reading. I have always been a massive book worm – you can ask my mum.
“I know that a lot of you guys also share my love of reading, which is why the book club is possibly one of the most exciting things I’ve done this year because I can read books and recommend them to you. I’ve stuck to Young Adult titles mainly because I want to influence and inspire lots of young adults such as yourselves… or maybe you’re just like me, you’re 26 and you just frickin love a YA. I want to inspire more young people to want to read. These days everyone is on their phone on their tablet on and their laptop, myself included, so that’s why I really enjoy reading.”
She added: “Picking the books wasn’t actually that hard for me. I just went with the books I’d seen you guys recommend or I’d seen other people talking about or ones that looked really interesting to me or that I could relate to in some way. I have narrowed it down to eight perfect choices.”
WH Smith also partners with celebrity couple Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan on an adult fiction book club.
