Orion buys two from Richell

Orion has acquired two new novels by Hannah Richell for a six-figure sum.

Kate Mills, publishing director at Orion Fiction, bought world English language rights from Sarah Lutyens at Lutyens and Rubenstein.

Orion has previously published Richell’s Secrets of the Tides, which was a Richard and Judy Book Club selection, and The Shadow Year.

Mills said: “With Hannah’s novels, I find myself turning over events and characters in my mind long after I’ve finished reading. She weaves haunting family dramas touched with menace and suspense. We are thrilled we’ve got more to come from Hannah and she has a unique place on the Orion list.”

Orion will publish the first novel in the new contract in 2015.
