Prince Harry’s Spare (Transworld Digital) reigned atop the Bookstat chart for the week ending 7th January, selling an estimated 31,470 units. This is the second week a non-fiction title has topped the e-book chart, with Miriam Margolyes’ This Much is True (John Murray) hitting the number one in the previous week.
With Prince Harry’s publisher Transworld announcing a first-week sale of 750,000 units across all formats, e-book was clearly the smallest part of the pie, based on Bookstat’s estimate. However, audio would then account for around a third of Spare’s launch-week volume—given the title has been either top or second place of the Audible chart ever since its announcement in the autumn, and many astounding clips from the audiobook going viral over the past week, this may not be too far from the truth.
Robert Bryndza’s Devil’s Way (Raven Street) entered the chart in second place, knocking Adele Parks’ One Last Secret (HQ) to third.
Richard Osman’s The Bullet that Missed and The Thursday Murder Club (Penguin) once again claimed the two top spots in the Publisher E-Book Ranking for the week ending 7th January. Claire Douglas’ The Girls who Disappeared (Penguin) and Bonnie Garmus’ Lessons in Chemistry (Transworld) bounced back into the top five.
Clarification: Hachette has stated that The Institute has sold 11,094 copies.
