Lisa Jewell’s The Night She Disappeared (Penguin) dawns atop the Bookstat e-book number one, for the author’s second number one in the digital chart, following The Family Upstairs in June 2021. Ben Aaronovitch’s Amongst Our Weapons (Orion), the latest title in the Rivers of London series, thundered into the runner-up spot as the highest new entry in the Bookstat chart, edging out Jessica Redland’s Spring Tides at the Starfish Café (Boldwood), which débuted in third. Ashley Audrain’s The Push (Penguin) and Beth O’Leary’s The No-Show (Quercus) also entered the chart.
Both the e-book charts saw evidence of a “Bridgerton” boom as the adaptation of Julia Quinn’s Regency-set romance series returned to Netflix for a second season. Quinn’s Romancing Mr Bridgerton (Little, Brown) topped the Publisher E-Book Ranking for the week ending 2nd April, with To Sir Phillip, with Love (Little,Brown) rebounding into third. Caz Finlay’s gangland thriller Part of the Family (One More Chapter) broke up the Bridgerton party in second. Mick Herron’s Slough House series also saw a streaming service leg-up for the first week of the month, as its adaptation dropped on Apple TV+. Slow Horses and Dead Lions (John Murray), the first two books, zipped into eighth and ninth place.
Clarification: Hachette has stated that Amongst Our Weapons sold 9,148; Romancing Mr Bridgerton 3,250; and The No-Show 1,908 for the week ending 9th April.
