Adele Parks’ One Last Secret (HQ) swiped the Bookstat crown from Prince Harry’s Spare (Transworld Digital), becoming the first fiction book of the year to hit the top of the e-book chart. Parks notched up nine weeks in the Bookstat chart across 2022, with Both of You spending two weeks at number one.
Ann Cleeves’ The Sleeping and the Dead (Pan) rose to second place, as Patricia Cornwell’s Livid (Sphere) became the highest new entry, in third. Anthony Horowitz’s Sherlock Holmes title The House of Silk (Orion) and Anita Waller’s The Family at No 12 (Boldwood) also débuted, in eighth and 10th respectively, while Colleen Hoover’s It Ends with Us (S&S) and Katie Fforde’s A Wedding in Provence (Penguin) returned to the top 10.
Spare reigned again in the Publisher E-Book Ranking for the week ending 21st January, holding off a challenge from Jill Mansell’s Promise Me (Headline), which débuted in second place. Peter May’s A Winter Grave (Quercus) blew like an icy wind into ninth place, as Gabrielle Zevin’s Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow (Vintage) returned, in 10th.
Clarification: Hachette has stated that Livid sold 6,857 digital copies, and The House of Silk 3,611.
