"Wow, that’s the best job ever!" was the usual response when I told someone I was a matchmaker. And it came close enough, when attending engagement parties, weddings or scrolling through new photo album additions on Facebook. However, six years later, having matched thousands of couples and read virtually every book on relationship psychology, I’d learnt that beyond its pink and cupid-themed branding, matchmaking is a dark art. I wrote the novel, It’s Got to Be Perfect, to share all that I had learned about dating and love, through the eyes of protagonist, Ellie Rigby as she embarks on a heartfelt yet hilarious journey as a London matchmaker.
