Gail Honeyman’s Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine has reclaimed the Weekly E-Ranking number one for a 19th non-consecutive week. It is now level with The Girl on the Train for number of weeks atop the e-book top 20, and the Costa First Novel Award winner will swipe the all-time record from the psychological thriller if it holds the top spot next week. It has already claimed Paula Hawkins’ record for most consecutive number ones, with Eleanor Oliphant… completing a 14-week run between February and May.
Despite a five-week gap since it last crested the chart, Eleanor Oliphant seems to have gained a second wind to give it the edge over long-term nemesis The Tattooist of Auschwitz, which had to once again settle for second place to Honeyman’s blockbuster—for a 13th time.
Peter Robinson’s Careless Love was the highest new entry, scoring fourth place—as the top three were once again locked down by Eleanor Oliphant, The Tattooist and Adam Kay’s This is Going to Hurt. The crime author has only charted once before, with When The Music’s Over in July 2016. Sci-fi author Becky Chambers made her debut in the Weekly E-Ranking with Record of a Spaceborn Few charting 11th. Crime authors Tom Wood and James Oswald also made their first entries into the e-book top 20, with Wood’s Kill for Me in 16th and James Oswald’s No Time to Cry in 18th.
