Siblings reunite after 12 years apart, but buried secrets threaten their lives.
What does it mean to be on the first YA Book Prize shortlist?
As one of the founders of UKYA.co.uk which was set up to showcase British YA, I'm thrilled that there is a YA Book Prize! So often we seem to be overshadowed by the big hitters from America, and a prize like this is a way to redress the balance. Being on the shortlist is the cherry on the cake.
Why do you think your book should win?
It's about crucially important subjects such as the way children in care are often failed. I'd love it to reach a wider audience.
What is your all time favourite YA book?
The Outsiders by S E Hinton.
What is special about YA in the UK and Ireland?
I could go on and on about this...so many good writers, so many great books, a lot of humour, world-beating fantasy and we're not scared of any subject.
