Penguin Business’ Ause Abdelhaq is joining the Pan division of Pan Macmillan as an editor on the non-fiction team.
Currently assistant editor at Penguin Business, Abdelhaq began his publishing career at Penguin General, reporting to Martina O’Sullivan, publisher of Penguin Life and Penguin Business. He spent two years on the editorial team at Penguin Business, working with authors including Seth Godin, Ruby Wax, Anne Boden, Robert Livingston and Helen Tupper and Sarah Ellis.
Last year, Abdelhaq began acquiring titles for his own list. Working with Pan non-fiction publishing director Mike Harpley, Abdelhaq will commission across the Pan non-fiction list including business, current affairs, history, reportage, sports, and technology. He will also support Harpley with titles across the Macmillan hardback list. Abdelhaq will start his new position on 17th April, reporting into Harpley.
Abdelaq said: “While I’m sad to be leaving my incredible colleagues at Penguin Business, I’m thrilled to be embarking on a new adventure at Pan Macmillan. I can’t wait to learn from the wonderful team there, and to contribute to what is already an excellent non-fiction list. I’m excited to grow as a publisher and to expand my commissioning to include a wider range of genres.”
Harpley added: “Ause wowed us with his enthusiasm, market knowledge, and innovative ideas. As well as using his experience to grow our business publishing, I know Ause will also bring new ideas to our broader non-fiction list with both commercial and significant projects. I’m delighted he’s joining us and look forward to working with him.”
