Shona Abhyankar is leaving her role as publicity lead at Amazon Publishing UK and Kindle Direct Publishing UK to join ED Public Relations as associate director.
Abhyankar will begin at the company on 12th November and her main focus will be non-fiction campaigns.
“I've had an incredible experience at Amazon, worked with some of the brightest in the business, and made friends for life but this feels like the right time to move agency-side again,” said Abhyankar, who joined Amazon in June last year.
“This is a hugely exciting time in ED PR's short but perfectly formed history and with the increasing appetite for intelligent, culture-shifting non-fiction - a genre I've always been passionate about – I am looking forward to a renewed focus on this area of publishing and to joining Emma and her talented team.”
Before joining Amazon Abhyankar worked in publicity roles at Ebury and Penguin Random House Children’s. She has executed campaigns for Sheryl Sandberg’s Lean In and collaborated with authors such as Sir Richard Branson, Johanna Basford, Shappi Khorsandi, Raymond Briggs and Helen Oxenbury.
Emma Draude, m.d. of ED PR, said: “Shona and I first met over a decade ago when we both worked at Midas PR and we’ve kept in touch ever since. I have always been impressed by her ability to deliver strategic non-fiction campaigns that grab the headlines and dominate the news agenda whilst remaining a strong and supportive team player.
“Creating campaigns that deliver results while maintaining our reputation for excellent author and client care is central to everything we do at ed public relations and I know that this is very much part of Shona’s ethos. I am delighted that she will be joining our award-winning team.”
