Accent Press’s newly created self-publishing arm Octavo Publishing has merged with another self-publishing firm, Onion Custard Publishing.
The deal was confirmed at the London Book Fair earlier this month, and sees Cardiff-based Onion Custard founder and m.d David Norrington become manager of Octavo, where he will head up a team of four staff.
Onion Custard has published 80 titles since its formation in 2012, originally in Kindle format and from 2013 in softback formats. They will now be distributed by Accent Press under its Octavo imprint.
Hazel Cushion, m.d for Accent Press, said: “We are delighted to have brought in David’s publishing skills and energy into this exciting new division. The demand for Octavo’s services has exceeded expectations and so, as two local companies, we decided to combine forces.”
Norrington added: “As well as offering publishing and marketing services, Octavo will be offering a range of writing classes and workshops at our Octavo House premises in Cardiff Bay.”
Octavo was launched in March as the assisted publishing arm of Accent Press, and offers services including publication, sales and distribution, marketing, publicity and rights sales to small presses and independent authors.
