Actor Tam Dean Burn insists he is “fine” after being stabbed in the street shortly after speaking at an Edinburgh tribute event to Scottish poet Tom Leonard.
Burn, 60, had delivered a reading at the Scottish Poetry Library on Saturday (2nd March) when he was attacked outside the venue at around 3.30pm, the BBC reported.
Emergency services arrived at the Royal Mile and guests were kept inside the venue for around an hour.
The "Fortitude" and "Outlander" star, who had left the venue to go to a football match, was treated in hospital and is now recovering at home.
He later tweeted: “Thanks for all the messages of support folks. I’m fine honest and when it says I’m resting that’s not the actor’s euphemism so going to take a break from here.”
The event had been organised as a tribute to Leonard, who died in December at the age of 74.
Poet and novelist Jenni Fagan was hosting the tribute with appearances from Liz Lochhead, Joy Hendry and others.
Police Scotland said a 42-year-old man was arrested at around 4pm in connection with the incident.
