Ade Adepitan and Cerrie Burnell are joining children’s literature collective Inclusive Minds to champion diversity and representation in books.
In their roles as ‘inclusion champions’ the pair will promote Inclusive Mind’s network of Inclusion Ambassadors, a group of young people who help authors create authentic characters and situations.
Inclusive Minds co-founders Alexandra Strick and Beth Cox said: “We are thrilled to have the support of Ade and Cerrie in helping us promote and grow our network of Inclusion Ambassadors. Their own knowledge and lived experiences together with their passion for children’s books and inclusion makes them such perfect champions for what we do.”
Adepitan and Burnell, who are both children’s authors and TV presenters, will announce their new roles at a London Book Fair seminar entitled Diversity: Where’s the Issue at 11.30am today (Wednesday 13th March) in the children’s hub. They will discuss authentic representation in children’s and YA fiction with three of Inclusive Mind's inclusion ambassadors.
