Peters, Frasers and Dunlop (PFD) has announced the winners of the Queer Fiction Prize.
Adriano Noble won the adult category for his debut novel Body Comes Home and signs with agent Cara Lee Simpson. Noble took the prize for his literary trans horror story set on a rural coastline that explores envy, desire, displacement and hauntings.
"I was immediately enchanted by this manuscript", said judge Hanna Bervoets. "Ghostly and mysterious, Noble’s play with horror tropes is a captivating way to explore gender envy and family patterns. His prose is clean and tender, marking Noble as an exciting new voice in queer literature.”
Eleanor Drage won the children’s/YA category with Tastes Like Teen Spirit, a dark romantic fantasy that explores the importance of meaningful connections and changing attitudes to bisexuality. Drage will also be jointly represented by Silvia Molteni and Lucy Irvine.
Judge Samuel J Halpin commented: "Tastes Like Teen Spirit by Eleanor Drage took a grip of me and most certainly did not let go. Eleanor’s writing is observant, darkly flavourful and will have readers poring over every word. It’s an eagle-eyed observation of how it feels to be a teen, riddled with 90’s nostalgia and a wickedly captivating plot whose palpitations are guaranteed to keep your head thrumming long after you’ve put it down.”
