Ailah Ahmed is to join Little, Brown, Abacus and Virago.
Ahmed, who is currently freelancing for Simon & Schuster, will start as commissioning editor for the Hachette-owned publisher on 8th December.
Ahmed was previously at Canongate, where she acquired books including The Book of Lies by Mary Horlock, which was longlisted for the Guardian First Book Award, and True Things About Me by Deborah Kay Davies. She worked on A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki, shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, and a reissue of Shirley Conran’s Lace, as well as the Canons, Canongate’s modern classics list.
Prior to that, she worked for Tindal Street Press.
Ahmed will be commissioning across Little, Brown, Abacus and Virago’s list, and will be acquiring fiction and non-fiction.
