Norwich department store Jarrold has hired Holly Ainley as the buyer manager for books. She replaces Chris Rushby, who is retiring in early 2019.
Ainley is currently marketing and operations manager at Nine Arches Press and has previously held editorial roles at HarperCollins and Myriad.
“I'm over the moon to be joining a business as venerable and yet as dynamic as Jarrold,” she said. “I don't know of another department store with Jarrold's dedication to maintaining and developing such a thriving book department, serving the local community and beyond, and offering such an exciting author events programme.”
Jarrold trading director Michelle Jarrold said: “We're very sad to lose Chris, but delighted to find someone of Holly's industry expertise to replace him. She brings both bookselling experience and an insider's knowledge of publishing, which will inform her relationships with our suppliers and authors.”
Ainley will join the business on 10th December.
