Alex Stewart has been appointed in the newly created role of head of UK sales for Chelsea Green Publishing UK.
Stewart began his career as a bookseller in Waterstones and went on to work for DK as a specials sales manager, before joining Michael O’Mara where he has worked for the past three years as senior sales manager, focusing on trade and non-traditional markets.
The role will combine direct customer relationships, partner communication and market management. Stewart will report to the v.p. of business development and global sales, Anne Bowman, and join the team based at London's Somerset House from 7th June.
Bowman said: "I am delighted that Alex is joining us to strengthen our UK sales growth from in house after a record breaking 2020 which saw 64% growth, and 2021 is well on track to be another incredible growth year (39% year to date). We are excited to have his expertise and focus on developing our UK market share, particularly around high street and specialty accounts."
Stewart added: "I'm incredibly excited to be starting this new journey with Chelsea Green UK. From the moment I met the team, I've been so impressed with the passion and drive to bring their publishing programme to a new audience and connect with voices throughout the UK. With such a strong backlist and our new progressive frontlist coming through, I can't wait to get started."
