The Association of Learned & Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) has launched a new careers hub for the scholarly publishing community.
The resource will provide information on topics such as journals, licensing and Open Access via videos and podcasts. The hub is sponsored by Publishers’ Licensing Services and will be free for all for a limited time period before being restricted to members.
Wayne Sime, chief executive of the ALPSP, said: “Through our member surveys and feedback from training courses, it is clear that there is a real need for easy to access advice on areas of importance in scholarly publishing. We are pleased to be able to offer a library of content to fulfil this need—the hub will be constantly evolving—and expect many more videos and podcasts shortly.”
The information provided is predominantly knowledge based and aimed at those with up to five years’ experience. It will be regularly updated. The ALPSP said it has initially approached its tutors and committee members to provide their expertise to produce videos and podcasts for the hub, but invites a range of experts across scholarly publishing for future content "to ensure a widespread and diverse audience is involved in contributing".
