Madiya Altaf has been promoted to senior editor of Zaffre Publishing Group’s health and well-being imprint Lagom.
Altaf’s promotion is part of what Bonnier Books UK calls “a deepening investment” in an area that they see as “crucial to the modern publishing landscape”. At Lagom, Altaf will report to editorial director Michelle Signore.
Altaf, who has published books such as Jade Bowler’s The Only Study Guide You’ll Ever Need (Blink Publishing), has already acquired upcoming Lagom publications Why Don’t I Have Anything To Wear? by TikToker Andrea Cheong and Money on Your Mind by financial psychotherapist Vicky Reynal. She is commissioning in areas including health, wellness, self-help, mental health, relationships, popular science, psychology and trend-based subjects.
Matt Phillips, non-fiction publisher at Zaffre Publishing Group, said: “From the moment she joined us, Madiya’s tenacity and publishing nous have shone through. She has been acquiring books since she was an assistant, and has proven time and again that she has a nose for a trend-based bestseller.”
Altaf, who formerly worked at Blink Publishing, said: “Bonnier Books UK is such a wonderful place to work, and I’m so excited to be stepping up to be a part of the brilliant Lagom list. I have always loved looking out for trend-based books which cater for a young audience and I am so pleased to have the opportunity to do this on such a forward-thinking and dynamic list as Lagom. This is a list that inspires, empowers and supports readers, and I can’t wait to further develop our publishing.”
