Michelle Obama's Becoming (Penguin) has leapt into the Amazon Charts' Most-Sold: Non-Fiction number one slot, defeating Joe Wicks' Wean in 15 (Bluebird) after three weeks at the top. Obama scored a double, with her memoir also notching up another Most-Read: Non-Fiction top spot, which it has occupied for most of the year. The former First Lady's autobiography, released in late 2018, has been boosted recently owing to the Netflix documentary following her book tour.
Hallie Rubenhold's The Five (Transworld) also leapfrogged Wean in 15 to score runner-up to Obama in Most-Sold: Non-Fiction. Vex King's Good Vibes, Good Life (Hay House), a staple in both the Amazon and TCM charts since the beginning of lockdown, climbed six places to fourth.
Sally Rooney's Normal People (Faber) racked up a fourth week in the Most-Sold: Fiction number one spot, as Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (Scholastic) debuted in fourth, the same week it hit the Nielsen BookScan Total Consumer Market number one spot.
The past few weeks have seen an unprecendented level of non-Harry Potter titles near the top of the Most-Read: Fiction chart—however, last week normality seemed to be on its way back, with Normal People and Hilary Mantel's The Mirror and the Light (Fourth Estate) falling and a Potter top three reinstated.
